Perspective changes things. Steven Furtick said it well…
“Your perspective will either become your prison, or your passport.”
I’m finding this to be so true in my life, especially this past year. It can either keep you bound or set you free. You can choose to be stuck in the past or in the difficult circumstances you are going through, OR you can change your perspective, keep your focus on God and trust that He has you. Perspective. It’s a powerful thing.
My mom and I try to make a point to have coffee together a couple times a week. We started this precious tradition at the start of the pandemic and clung to it this past year during all the ups and downs we faced. It’s often a sweet time of conversation, laughs and even some fun. Like the other day when we we sat down with our coffees and worked on a puzzle together. This wasn’t just any puzzle though. It’s a 1000 piece puzzle of a map of the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area with little attractions all over it. I’m seriously not sure what we were thinking. As she sat on one side of the table, and I on the other, we tinkered with various pieces to find the right spot. Every once in a while we would be victorious, leading us to celebrate together. And then we hit a brick wall. We weren’t getting anywhere no matter what we tried so we decided to switch sides to allow us each to work a different area of the puzzle. And as soon as I stepped around the other side, it was like a whole new world came into view. Pieces seemed to fall into place and we were celebrating quite a bit. Perspective change. You see we were stuck. Bound. Unable to see the bigger picture. Unable to get past what our eyes were so heavily focused on in our little corner. But when we changed our perspective, it was like that passport. Freedom. It helped us to see things we hadn’t before. It helped us to move on, make progress.
I share all that because in this YouTube video, I am sharing some behind the scenes regarding our embryo adoption, from the past year. Things no one really knew about. And as I’ve reflected over the past year, it’s allowed me to have a different perspective on things. Even the hard things.
I hope this video gives you a little more of an idea what our journey has been like so far and how much God has already answered our prayers. He is a miracle-working, faithful God! Be blessed!
